🙅‍♂️Foods to avoid at the Supermarket!

Doing your weekly shop?

Wondering what delicious, yummy treats to AVOID!?

Our founder had a recent experience that inspired this quick post!

Treats in Bulk

Oh yes, those lovely bulk buys.

Our founder bought a particular jelly sweet in bulk for a friend when on his most recent trip to a wholesale.

This was devoured within a few days. Buying sweets in bulk can often make it difficult to resist the temptation to go back for more.

Better to avoid it than risk a high sugar health issue.

Pre-Made Cocktails

These convenient mixers that come in all your favourite flavours are usually packed with sugar (60g on average)

Try using fresh or frozen berries for that extra flavour and Fibre. Unsweetened flavoured hard seltzers can also hydrate you whilst indulging.

Vegan Ice Cream

Well, just because a product doesn’t have cow’s milk doesn’t mean that it’s better for you. (Sorry)

Truth be told, vegan ice creams made with coconut milk can be much higher in saturated fat and sugar.

If you are only eating vegan based foron the proposed health benefit, you might be better off with the real deal ice cream.

However, If you’re lactose intolerant (health condition), choose ones made with soy, coconut, almond or cashew milk with the smallest amount of sugar and saturated fat possible.

Gluten-Free Snacks

Oh yes, these too!

If you’re buying these for their supposed health benefits, then you’re looking in the wrong place. Gluten-free foods are often loaded with salt sugar and saturated fat to improve flavour.

If you have a diagnosed gluten intolerance then gluten-free alternatives can be great substitutions for you.

Juices (Sigh)

Right here we go, the concentrated sugar in juices, yes even in 100% fruit juice or freshly squeezed kind is higher in calories and lower in nutritional value than whole fruit.

Honestly, you’re better off eating produce which is full of vitamins, minerals fibre and antioxidants. Avoiding these sugary beverages, in general, can also help you to lose or maintain weight in the long term.
